Contains 'Of tenures, touchinge his majestie's prerogative royall... lately perused and amended by Sir John Davies, knight etc." With a dedication to Robert, earl of Salisbury, Master of the Wards, signed by Robert Hill. The dedication fixes the date between 1605 and 1612.

Sir John Davies (1569-1626) was a lawyer and poet. Much admired for his poem, Nosce teipsum, Davies made his way into the court of Queen Elizabeth I and King James I.
